Vietnam's sea and islands

Vietnam’s sea and islands-related records announced

LookAtVietnam – Nine new sea and island-related records have been recognized by the Vietnam Record Book Center, including:


1.Tra Co beach in the northern province of Quang Ninh is the longest in the country, with a total length of 17km.
2. Ha Long Bay, also in Quang Ninh province, has the greatest number of islands (1,169).
3. Tam Giang – Cau Hai in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue is the largest lagoon covering more than 21,000 hectares.


4.Cat Ba archipelago in the northern port city of Haiphong has the largest number of islands (367).
5.Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago is furthest offshore.
6. Hon Khoai, a cluster of islands in the southern province of Ca Mau, is closest to the equator.
7. 561sq.km Phu Quoc island in the southern province of Kien Giang is the largest island in Vietnam.
8. Nam Yet sea reserve covering over 35,000 hectares in Nha Trang is the largest of its kind in the country.
9. Ly Son island in the central province of Quang Ngai
has the largest population density of 1,888 people per square kilometer
(statistics in 2009).
